Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
